形は機能に従う。「Opus-1」に一番に求めたものは堅牢性と耐蝕性でした。リール本体の材質には、軽量化のためによく用いられるマグネシウム合金ではなく強度と耐久性に優れたアルミニウム合金を採用しました。一方でハンドルやその他のパーツには、それぞれのパーツに求められる特性に合わせてチタン合金やステンレスなど他の金属材料も積極的に採用し、機能性の大きな要素となる重量バランスと強度の両立を図っています。機能面では、リールの機能の中で最も重要な確実で滑らかな回転を実現するためにアルミニウム合金鍛造の高精度ドライブギアや特殊防錆処理を施したステンレスボールベアリングやセラミックボールベアリングを採用しました。その他数多くの特長が、この小さな躯体に一つ一つ無駄なく丁寧に収められています。年数を経ても飽きのこない、古さを感じさせない道具の姿。ベテランの職人が長年の経験と勘で組み上げた最上のバランスと完成度をその手で感じて下さい。
